Here’s what we’ll be covering over Autumn term in Year 3:

English In English this term, the children will learn about and write a variety of texts such as: instructions, stories, non-chronological report, setting descriptions and diary entries. We will be writing our own instructions for a story, followed by a non-chronological report and a chapter of a story. We will be reading ‘Christopher Pumpkin’ and ‘Lost and Found’.

Maths

In maths, the children will be learning more about comparing unit and non-unit fractions. With Time, they will be learning how to tell time to five minutes and to a minute. They will also learn to read digital clocks. They will also be working on their length and perimeter knowledge. They will measure and compare lengths in mm, cm and metres. For statistics, children will learn to collect data, interpret and draw pictograms and bar charts.

PE

We have PE on the following days:

Tuesdays and Thursdays

This term the children will be practicing and learning the skills for rugby and dance.

Please ensure your child has appropriate clothing; this can be in the form of plain black tracksuit bottoms with elasticated legs, plain black or red shorts and a plain white or red t-shirt. Children will only need trainers.

No jewellery is to be worn on PE days.

Homework

Every child is expected to complete their three-weekly reads, access TT Rockstars for at least 21 minutes and practice their weekly spellings.

Children need to read at home at least 3 times per week and log this on Boom Reader.

Children need to learn their spellings each week.
