Our nursery offers a fantastic start to your child’s education. We want our children to become independent, confident, self-motivated and enthusiastic learners. Children are able to achieve their full potential within a secure, caring and happy environment.

Here's what we'll be covering this term in Nursery:

English

In English we will be … Learning to join in with nursery rhymes and action songs, e.g. Hickory Dickory Dock and Wheels on the Bus. We will be reading Dinosaur Roar, Journey Home from Grandpa’s, Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush, When Goldilocks Went to the House of the Bears and Room for a Little One.

Phonics

In Phonics we will be … Learning the name of these letters and the sound they make: m,p,b,n,t,d,w,h,c,k,f and s.

Maths

In Maths we will be ... Learning about time – our day, timetable, calendar, we will also be focusing on colours, matching and sorting. We will be making comparisons between objects relating to size, weight, height, length and capacity. We will be extending and creating ABAB patterns.

Topics that we will be covering across this half-term

We will be exploring our environment, learning about the seasons and learning about different festivals and religious festivals.

P.E.

We have our outdoor learning sessions on Muddy Mondays (which will start in a few weeks time) and children will need to dress warmly and bring their welly boots.

Our P.E day is Tuesday (if you come to nursery in the afternoon) and on Wednesday (if you come to school in the morning). If your child is full-time, they will do P.E on both days.

Please send your child to school wearing trainers on this day.

We will be learning different ways of moving in P.E and exploring our outdoor equipment on the playground, including the bikes and scooters.
